According to research, there was an alleged sighting of the flying saucer that carried the extraterrestrials in July 1947 in the northwest of Roswell during a severe thunderstorm. The ranch supposedly crashed into a ranch and the government discovered the aliens as they seized the UFO.

Some people think it was just a weather balloon or a different aircraft, but the alien story was soon backed up by the research of UFO researcher Stanton Friedman.

A public information officer named Lt. Walter Haut who had been at the Roswell Army Air Field in 1947 was one of the witnesses, and so were many others who are both military and private individuals. There was a press release by Lt. Haut stating that they have a flying saucer in their possession, but another press release was issued the following day stating they have a weather balloon.

This was the start of the best known UFO cover-up. According to stories, the military was also able to recover debris and bodies from that said crash and it was brought in for testing at the famous Area 51. This tale soon became the “Roswell Incident.”
