In the rugged western New Mexico, where tales of moonshiners and hermits weave through dusty dirt roads, lies a hidden treasure known as Candy Kitchen. It’s a quaint community with more than 300 residents and a loving home to over 60 rescued canines, including wolves and wolf-dogs. And here you’ll find Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary.
Wild Spirit is a haven for wolves and wolfdogs that embraces a diverse family of canines. From the cunning foxes to the spirited dingoes, the elusive coyotes to the melodious “singing dogs” from distant New Guinea, each resident adds a unique melody to the sanctuary’s symphony of life.

In 1991, artist Jacque Evans transformed her passion for art into a sanctuary of love and compassion. Using the proceeds from her creations, she crafted a haven for abandoned wolves and wolfdogs. Theirs is a story of second chances, where each heartfelt howl echoes tales of resilience and renewal.
The sanctuary is a nonprofit organization operating with a deep-seated mission: to rescue and care for displaced, unwanted, and non-releasable captive-bred wolves, wolfdogs, and other wild canid species. It makes my heart melt!
