Arizona is home to the jaw-dropping Grand Canyon, crazy desert wildlife, and very hot summers.
Positioned on the coast of NC just south of Wilmington, is the quaint town of Southport. As summer approaches, birds and tourists flock to this Brunswick County town to soak in the natural exquisiteness and small town vibes. Southport is especially lively at the start of July with its annual 4th of July festival bringing in more than 40,000 people. Even if you’re not visiting for an event, you’re sure to fall in love with Southport’s charm on any summer day.
Getting there can be half the fun when taking the ferry from Fort Fisher or Bald Head Island! You and your pup can walk on board, cycle on, or even take your car to explore more of the town at a quicker rate. Keep your eyes open for bottlenose dolphins and porpoises on the ride over!
You can enjoy the fresh catch of the day and a tall glass of sweet tea at one of the many seaside restaurants.
And of course you’ll want to take a stroll down the beach collecting shells and sea glass. Just remember to leave only your footprints behind!
Even if you’re not one for shopping, these individual markets and shops add to the culture of Southport and are not to be missed.
Don’t forget to cool down with an ice cream cone from Flava’s Ice Cream! After a day of exploring Southport during its warmest season, you deserve it!
