There’s a house in North Carolina that outdoes any celebrity home! It’s beautiful and massive! It’s the Biltmore Estate. The mansion has become a legendary tourist attraction and is also often professionally photographed.

Where is the Biltmore Estate

Spreading across 8,000 acres in Asheville, NC, the Biltmore Estate is also the largest home in America. The gigantic home was ranked eighth in America’s Favorite Architecture back in 2007 and continues to be a favored tourist attraction.

Built around 1890, this enormous estate belonged to George Washington Vanderbilt II. Vanderbilt had the manor built to be his summer home. He referred to as his “little mountain escape”. His relatives still own the home and allow public visitors year-round to tour the 250 rooms. Many movie buffs are often also impressed to learn that the home has been featured in popular movies including Forrest Gump and Hannibal.

How Much Does it Cost to Visit?

To visit the estate, it’ll cost you somewhere between $59-$90 depending on the day and time of year you visit. There are also options for group rates, but you’ll need to contact them.

What is There to Do There?

There are many things to do at the Biltmore Estate. You can take a tour of the breathtaking Antler Hill Village and Winery. The winery offers different wine tastings. There is even a unique chocolate tasting experience. There are also the beautiful gardens that you have full access to. Here you can get lost among the plethora of gorgeous and unique flora. There are also several different tours of the estates. One of them is of the rooftops where you can also take in a panoramic view of the grounds.

You can even do some shopping. Fortunately, you can do this online before you visit in person.

Growing up in various states along the east coast, I've developed a love of all things local. I currently live in North Carolina and wouldn't move for anything! I love the beach, animals, and creating my own adventures. I encourage everyone to travel and never be afraid to fail.
