5 Reasons to Have a Lot of North Carolina Pride

Published

Have you ever found yourself feeling more at ease talking to someone after discovering you share the same home state? No matter the size, whether you’re from Rhode Island or Texas, every state has an identity that somehow forms to the people within it. But no other pride compares to North Carolina pride!

Some people are more prideful of their state than others. North Carolinians are especially proud of their state and for good reason! In addition to the tremendous landscapes and kind-spirited people, here are five additional reasons why everyone should wear their North Carolina pride on their sleeves.

1. Our Football Team Made it to the Super Bowl

There are 32 teams in the NFL and our Panthers made it to the Superbowl! They may not have taken home the title but these guys deserve a solid round of applause for their record season and dedication.

2. We Invented Krispy Kreme Donuts

You’ll never see a “Hot Now” light on at your local Dunkin Donuts, oh no, that mouth-watering sign is reserved for the world’s favorite doughnut, the Krispy Kreme. Born in North Carolina, this local favorite deliciously represents our home state.

3. We Gave Our Nation 3 Presidents

Not one, not two, but three presidents! As if the invention of the Krispy Kreme wasn’t a worthy enough contribution to our nation, our state is the birthplace to former presidents: Andrew Jackson, James Knox Polk, and Andrew Johnson.

4. We’re Home to Cook Out Hamburgers

For all those hazy late-night runs to Cookout and attempts to try all 46 milkshake flavors, we owe it to our home state. When the bars close and our wallets are thin, Cookout has always been there for us. Despite the number of cars in line and if we’re running late to work, we will always join the queue of hungry drivers.

5. We Were First in Flight (Not Ohio)

One of the greatest engineering contributions to the world and it all began here in Kitty Hawk, NC. We show our support through our “First in Flight” license plates but we owe a lot more to our state for providing the grounds for the first successful airplane.

Growing up in various states along the east coast, I've developed a love of all things local. I currently live in North Carolina and wouldn't move for anything! I love the beach, animals, and creating my own adventures. I encourage everyone to travel and never be afraid to fail.
