These 6 Amazing Skyline Views In Illinois Will Blow You Away

Illinois is known throughout the midwest for its varying landscapes, natural beauty and manufactured beauty alike. When considering some epic skyline views, one might naturally think of Chicago, Illinois. Although the largest and most striking skyline, Chicago is far from the only city in Illinois that offers beautiful skyline views. It might be hard to believe, but all the skyline photos on this list are straight from the Land of Lincoln. That’s right, only in Illinois, can these views be experienced in person.

This picturesque photograph showcases some of Chicago’s beauty in the late evening. At this time of night, the bright and bold lights from the surrounding architecture reflect off of Lake Michigan. Interested in seeing this in person? Consider taking a walk around the lake to  check out this effect with your own eyes.

2. Sunny Afternoon Skyline, Chicago, Illinois

This Chicago skyline photo shows how greatly different it can look depending on the time of day and the angle of the shot. The bright sunny sky is captured in the reflection of the Lake Michigan, leaving it difficult to tell where one ends and one begins. This wide angle shot captures the entire Chicago skyline from North to South.

3. Lakeside Nightlife, Peoria, Illinois

Peoria is a significantly smaller city in Illinois, but still captures a little bit of an urban cityscape in its downtown area. With Lake Michigan as its centerpiece, this photo highlights the nightlife found in Peoria, including some lovely features like boat cruises, lake side dining and so much more.

4. Late Night Lights, Rockford, Illinois

By now you are surely noticing a pattern here, Illinois’ lakeside cities seem to offer the most beautiful skyline views compared to the cities not lakeside. Rockford is the third largest city in Illinois, and is perhaps best known for its lovely museums and for being the home of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright House, an architectural icon.

5. Sundown Skyline, Chicago, Illinois

This photo captures the colors of the sky as the sun sets in Chicago, Illinois. The warm colors in this photo might seem too beautiful to be true, but residents of Chicago are lucky enough to see sights like this pretty regularly. The focal point of this skyline is surely the John Hancock Tower, which is one of the most epic and largest skyscrapers in the Chicago, and the midwest as well.

6. Bright and Bold Skyline, Chicago, Illinois

I wanted to save my favorite Illinois skyline for last, which is of course located in the heart of downtown Chicago. This photo truly showcases the everyday natural beauty of this city. Chicago residents and those lucky enough to travel downtown for work, are well aware of how good they have it, at least in the summer time. Many know that Chicago winters are terribly chilly, and are exacerbated by its close proximity to Lake Michigan. But in the warmer months of the year residents are grateful for the scenic views Lake Michigan provides.
