Illinois is known throughout the midwest for its varying landscapes, natural beauty and manufactured beauty alike. When considering some epic skyline views, one might naturally think of Chicago. It might be hard to believe, but all the skyline photos on this list are straight from the Land of Lincoln. That’s right, only in Illinois, can these views be experienced in person.

By now you are surely noticing a pattern here, Illinois’ lakeside cities seem to offer the most beautiful skyline views compared to the cities, not lakeside. Rockford is the third-largest city in Illinois and is perhaps best known for its lovely museums and for being the home of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright House, an architectural icon.

I wanted to save my favorite Illinois skyline for last. Which is of course located in the heart of downtown Chicago. This photo truly showcases the everyday natural beauty of this city. Chicago residents and those lucky enough to travel downtown for work, are well aware of how good they have it. At least in the summertime. Many know that Chicago winters are terribly chilly, and are exacerbated by its close proximity to Lake Michigan. But in the warmer months of the year residents are grateful for the scenic views Lake Michigan provides.
