6 Things To Do On Halloween in New Mexico for Less Than 10 Dollars

Halloween is a special time of year. It is a holiday that doesn’t exclude anyone. Regardless of age, gender, race, creed, financial status, etc, Halloween is fun for everyone. There are a lot of things to do in New Mexico this Halloween. Here is a list of 6 things you can do for less than 10 dollars.

1. Pumpkin Glow

The fun family event known as Pumpkin Glow will be held in Los Alamos. New Mexico Halloween tradition is held on the lawn of Fuller Lodge. The lawn will be filled with the eerie, flickering glow of hundreds of carved pumpkins lit for the annual Los Alamos Pumpkin Glow. In past years,  over 2,000 people have taken in the sights of the glowing pumpkins. People of all ages and artistic talent are encouraged to participate. Everyone can carve a pumpkin!

The pumpkin artists will drop off their jack-o-lanterns in the afternoon and return after dark to view the hundreds of glowing gourds. Participants can pick up their pumpkins after the event (or choose from the unclaimed works of art). The Pumpkin Glow will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Thrill The World ABQ

Thriller, the song as well as the music video, are well known around the world. The massive 80’s Michael Jackson hit continues to be celebrated every New Mexico Halloween as dancers take to the dance floor and then reenact the dance sequences from the video. For the 8th year in a row, Albuquerque will take part in the Thrill The World simultaneous Thriller dance. It’s free and is also for charity. They are still looking for fearless Thriller dancers!

3. Maize Maze

Albuquerque offers a wonderful pumpkin patch experience at their Maize Maze.  Every New Mexico Halloween season, Maize Maze is perhaps the funnest pumpkin patch experience in the state. The maze is amazing and the pumpkins are also fresh for the picking. It’s fun for the whole family.

After you find the perfect pumpkin, take a trip through their maize maze!

Within the maze, there are checkpoints that will assist visitors to find their way through the maze. Signs with riddles are also posted inside the maze to help visitors in their navigation.  The major goal of the Maize Maze is to raise money for the programs at the farm. Service-learning programs bring over 1,000 visitors to RGCF each year. The maze also provides food for the migrating birds, Sandhill Cranes and Canada Geese, that live at the farm during the winter. There are also informational signs throughout the maze trails to learn about corn, owls, trees, sunflowers, and mazes.

Another awesome corn maze and pumpkin patch experience that costs well below 10 dollars can be had at Wagners Farmland Experience. Your experience will include hayrides, a petting zoo, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and much much more.

Admission also includes the corn maze, hayride, petting zoo, activity park, and pumpkin patch.

5. Day of the Tread

Reward yourself for all those long hot summer days in the sun, with crisp air, picturesque landscapes, as well as lots of fun! A family-oriented, Halloween-themed charitable bike rides (12, 26, 54, 64, 80, 100) The 2020 Day of the Tread has a treat for everyone!

Whichever path you choose, all participants will enjoy a Sunday pre-event motivation gathering, a post-ride celebration, courses full of music, entertainment, themed recharge zones as well as crazy contests. Costumes are encouraged but not required. There will be prizes awarded for the best human costumes and best bike costumes. If you like dressing up in costume, putting on face paint or wigs, then go for a ride for charity and crazy Halloween fun.
