The Superstition Mountains is a legendary mountain range in central Arizona. It’s famous for its gold mining, pioneer ranchers, and Apache residents.

1) The Superstition Mountains Are East of Phoenix

They are anchored by ( you guessed it!) the large Superstition Mountain itself.

2) The Mountain Range is Inside the Superstition Wilderness Area

The whole area has been federally designated.

3) Weaver’s Needle is a Landmark Many Use as a Guide

It’s behind and east of Superstition Mountain. People love to come here to rock climb. But, they also believe a legend that when the sun casts its shadow at a specific time of day, it’ll point to the location of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold.

5) It’s Home of the Legend of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine

The story goes that a German immigrant found a wealth of gold in this area. Then to avoid theft, he hid it somewhere within the Superstition Mountains. He only revealed the location to his caretaker on his deathbed. Many seek out his treasure but no one has been able to find anything definitive – yet.
