Universities in North Carolina are recognized for their exceptional graduation rates as well as their close student-to-faculty ratio. The Tar Hell state is also home to our nation’s first-ever public university, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is not only one of the best public universities in North Carolina, but it is also the first public university in the nation. In 2014, UNC was ranked first on Princeton Review’s “Best Value Public Colleges”. The UNC faculty works closely with their students as evident by the 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio. In addition to stellar academics, Carolina has won 42 NCAA Division 1 national championship.

Located in Raleigh, North Carolina State University marks one of the edges of the Research Triangle. The largest university in both North and South Carolina, NC State offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Located in Greenville, Eastern Carolina University is also the third-largest of the universities in North Carolina. ECU has upward of 400 student organizations and a strong school spirit. Even the local Starbucks tops their drinks with purple whipped cream on game days! ECU is a well-rounded university with 30% of students representing an ethnic minority.
