This historic wilderness, spanning over 558,000 acres of unspoiled beauty, holds a special place in the hearts of nature lovers, conservationists, and adventurers alike.

Established on June 3, 1924, the Gila Wilderness stands as a testament to the vision of conservationists and the enduring value of preserving wild spaces. Its designation as a wilderness area protected its diverse ecosystems, including ancient forests, rugged mountains, and pristine rivers. The Gila Wilderness serves as a sanctuary for wildlife, a living laboratory for ecological studies, and a source of inspiration for future generations.
