Luke Days Airshow is Back This Weekend! Here’s What You Should Know
Luke Air Force Base’s premier air show is making a triumphant return after years of absence this weekend.
After a hiatus spanning six years, Luke Days is soaring back into the West Valley.
The air force base’s air show was among the first casualties of the pandemic, with subsequent closures delaying a restart attempt in 2022.
While the air show promises excitement for kids, it’s also an opportunity for Arizona State University to highlight STEM careers, which the Air Force actively promotes.
“It’s not just about piloting aircraft; it’s about the entire process—from manufacturing planes to fostering scientists and skilled professionals,” explained Dr. Chris Howard, ASU’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.
ASU invests nearly $800 million annually in defense-related research, with collaborations with Luke AFB being pivotal.
For the Air Force, such air shows demonstrate their prowess and openings for prospective recruits. With tens of thousands expected to attend this weekend, it’s an inspiring occasion worth celebrating.
“I believe exposing young people to the thrill of witnessing fighter jets up close fosters future interest,” Walsh remarked.
