Tonga Hut Palm Springs is Los Angeles’ longest-running Tiki Bar. Established in 1958, this real old-school Tiki Bar has since served a tropical menu consisting of pineapple fried rice, kalua pork, fish sliders, and a pupu platter. You don’t have to make a reservation to come to Tonga Hut Palm Springs, but there’s a $50 booking fee for the secret room hidden behind a telephone booth if you want some quality time with your friends without interruptions. The secret room can hold up to 12 people.

Tonga Hut Palm Springs prides itself on their specialty drinks which include:

  • Kraken the Dole Whip – Kraken rum and vanilla rum, macadamia nut, coconut, and pineapple.
  • Gin Ricky Tiki Tavi – Ford’s gin, Falernum, Pimm’s, lemon, grapefruit, and orange juices
  • Chai-Tai – rums, chai syrup, liqueur, and citrus

Bootlegger Tiki

Located in the old Don the Beachcomber’s location at 110 N Palm Canyon Drive, Bootlegger Tiki offers a modern twist to the Tiki Bar but don’t worry; they still offer rum cocktails and the original Tiki sanctuary that Ernest Gantt has made.

Bootlegger Tiki requires a $30 deposit for a table and $60 for a booth. It is best to make a reservation. Bootlegger Tiki sells pins, baseball caps, and mugs if you want to take home some Tiki merchandise with you. It is also the only Tiki Bar in Palm Springs that offers a “tiki-to-go” service where they will send a bartender to your event.
