This Volkswagen Van Means You’re at the Hippest Restaurant in Phoenix
We’ve already covered the awesome 5-star “Pool House” in Scottsdale. Now, let’s talk about the cool “Beach House,” the hippest restaurant in Phoenix, that is a combination of everything we love: funky style, flavorful food, and the comfort of home. When you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and dig in here!
The Beach House Has Been Making Waves With its Instant Charm
This fun and quirky restaurant in Phoenix was originally opened under the moniker “The Two Hippies Beach House” in 2007. It quickly found success among locals and tourists alike because of its laidback atmosphere combined with the fast-casual eatery. In 2013, the place embraced its rebranding with a splash by dropping the “Two Hippies” and keeping “The Beach House.” It also saw new ownership under John Lichtenberg and Kalen Mehlman and faced a revamp in the menu, and has since included new additions such as their bestseller, fish and shrimp tacos.
Today, the family-owned restaurant in Phoenix is a shrine to the liberated taco, and is a one-of-a-kind concept that mixes “anything goes” with the “art of possible.”
Keep Your Eyes Open for the Hippie Volkswagen Camper Van
If you see the defunct 1960’s Volkswagen and Mod Podge decor, then you’re in the right place. It’s the sign you’ve reached The Beach House. Come here hungry and be rewarded by their delicious food! It’s one of the top things to do in Arizona.
A Freakin’ Great Experience
The restaurant is committed to treating all its patrons like family, and the restaurant like home. If you go here, you’ll know that their staff values this mission, and is not a mere decoration in their walls.
No matter what time you come here (even during a busy lunch), The Beach House will certainly execute service properly by moving the patrons smoothly through the line. Once you’re ready to order, you can try their tacos, burritos, and other refreshing beverages that will complete your day. But hold on, we’ll get to the menu later.
Remember to enjoy or maybe snap photos of the decor and nostalgic memorabilia scattered all around. You will see random decorations everywhere, as well as game cards on tables. It could be a fun way to pass time while waiting for your orders.
What Should You Order?
The Beach House’s fare is more Baja California than Mexican. They recommend all their guests to have adventurous minds and appetites so they can leave happy! Think of their taco as a canvas, one that you can dress up and fill with contents to your liking. Their food is locally sourced and crafted with love. Here’s what you should try:
- Fish & Shrimp Tacos (Bestseller)
- Loaded Fresh Baked Nachos
- Burritos
- Lemonade Slushies (Available in many flavors)
- Rice Bowls
Location: 501 E. Camelback Road Phoenix, Arizona 85012
