1. Ah Paradise

If you’re an avid coffee drinker, it might ring a bell when I say that this bed and breakfast is located on the Kona Coast. The coolest thing about this accommodation is that it isn’t only a place to stay. It’s also an organic coffee farm and macadamia nut orchard that covers more than eleven acres. The lush vegetation of this area provides not only the perfect environment for these plantations but also stunning views. Luckily, when you’ve seen enough green, there’s plenty of blue just nearby too  — the ocean is just minutes away.

A stay at this bed and breakfast will provide you with the perfect setting to do some serious relaxing, ideally while overlooking the gorgeous Honaunau and Kealakekua bays. They offer a long list of services here like chiropractic, acupuncture, Shiatsu, and traditional massages, so you don’t have to go anywhere else to achieve the perfect peaceful state. After re-energizing under the attentive care of the dedicated staff here, head into town just nearby to explore shops and restaurants!

2. Aloha Crater Lodge and Lava Tube

A part of the Volcano Hawaii Bed and Breakfast, this accommodation is tucked into a fern forest only two miles from Volcanoes National Park. Since their location matches up with the entrance to Kazumura cave and lava tube, one of the perks of staying here is that you’ll be able to catch a private tour of it all sometime during your stay!

At the Aloha Crater Lodge and Lava Tube, they go out of their way to ensure that all of their guests have comfortable and enjoyable getaways. Each of their six rooms has a private entrance, bath, and kitchenette. And luckily, you won’t have to leave the comfort of your room to get breakfast each morning! Instead, they deliver breakfast to your door, including fresh papayas, bananas, and seasonal fruit picked from the island itself.

Alongside a slice of Hawaiian tea bread, you can enjoy a cup of hot Hawaiian coffee or tea, straight from the nearby Hilo Coffee Mill. Head out for a day of hiking ending exploring all of the nearby volcanoes and lava, and return in the evening to unwind in their awesome outdoor jet tub!

3. Aloha Happy Place

The Aloha Happy Place thinks of themselves as a farmstead accommodation. This Mission-style home has been around since 1928, but luckily it has undergone plenty of renovations to ensure that guests have access to all of the modern amenities that they need to have an enjoyable stay. Though the renovations have provided the home with necessary upgrades, thankfully the old world charm of the establishment still remains. Wander the halls and you can enjoy original art that dates back to the creation of the home. You’ll also discover several antiques that are equally interesting.

Guests frequently declare the library, filled with a seemingly endless collection of books, their favorite room of Aloha Happy Place. It isn’t uncommon to find a person or two spending the evening in the library, enjoying a good story in front of the lava rock fireplace. Aloha Happy Place is only a short drive from the Hilo International Airport. And it is located just minutes from Kilauea, the world’s most active (but safe!) volcano!

4. Rainbow Plantation B & B

Rainbow Plantation B & B is a former three-acre plantation that produced coffee and macadamia nuts as well. Three acres of lush vegetation means that you’ll feel like you’re in paradise. Tropical plants, flowers, and fruit trees abound, and there are often many beautiful birds to be spotted throughout the greenery. Here, they don’t mind if you pick yourself some fruit to enjoy, and they would love to send you home with free macadamia nuts. They can hook you up with locally grown Kona Coffee, too!

Rainbow Plantation  B & B is located close to the hiking trail that leads to the famous Captain Cook monument. And they’re only minutes from Kealakekua Bay, which is prime territory for snorkeling, kayaking, or swimming with dolphins! The staff here has no problem loaning you, whatever snorkel equipment they have available. And they love to tell guests about the area so that they can make the most of their stay.

Any time you’re unsure of what to do with your day, head down and get some advice from the staff, who are more than happy to provide some local insight!
