2. Gemini Giant
The Gemini Giant is a commonly visited attraction and landmark that is also right here in Illinois. The statue is located in Wilmington and is the perfect spot for some travel photos. 3. Cahokia Mounds Woodhenge
This historic landmark is located near the Mississippi River, directly across from St. Louis. This landmark is a circle of painted wood posts, that is quite beautiful when up close. This area also has a significant historical background: it was utilized to make astrological sightings by ancient native Mississippians.

Located in Metropolis, Illinois, the Super Museum is a well-loved favorite for fans of one of the original comic book superheroes: Superman! 5. Leaning Tower Of Niles

Modeled after the world-famous Leaning Tower Of Pisa in Italy, the Leaning Tower Of Niles is a half size replica that was constructed in 1934.
6. International Museum of Surgical Science
This next unique attraction is a bit on the creepy side, and probably better for adults than families. The International Museum of Surgical Science is located in one of the most affluent neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. The Gold Coast is also home to designer clothing, high-end hotels, and the world’s only museum dedicated to surgical science.
7. Two-Story Outhouse
This landmark might not be really considered a tourist attraction, but it surely is a hilarious stop during your next road trip. Located in Gays, Illinois, the famous two-story outhouse is an actual working outhouse used in ‘back in the day.’ There are plenty of rumors regarding what led to the creation of the outhouse, but nothing that is completely verified.
